According to greenfield investment monitor fDi Markets, global FDI in textiles manufacturing experienced a period of growth between January 2012 and December 2014, with FDI project numbers increasing year on year during the period.

In 2012, a total of 45 projects were recorded with 24,083 jobs created as a result by 44 investing companies. The total capital expenditure for the year was $863.1m. During 2013, 80 projects were tracked, with 51,539 jobs created by 74 investing companies. The capital invested between 2012 and 2013 also increased dramatically by 437.23%. In 2014, a total of 101 projects were recorded, with the creation of 132,900 jobs by 91 investing companies. The total capital expenditure for the year stood at $6.09bn, representing an increase of 31.43%. This represents an increase of 124.44% in project numbers over the three-year period.

Similar growth was experienced between 2009 and 2012, with an increase in global textiles manufacturing project numbers of 114.81% in these three years.
