Data from greenfield investment monitor fDi Markets shows an increased number of FDI projects in Kuwait in the first five months of 2013, compared with the same period in previous years. Excluding investment in the retail sector, eight FDI projects have been recorded in Kuwait during 2013, half of 16 projects recorded in the whole of 2012.

This suggests that the country's inward FDI will surpass the levels witnessed in 2012, itself a 33% increase on 2011 and 2010, which both recorded 12 projects. The financial and business services sectors are the most targeted sectors in Kuwait for FDI. In 2010, 52% of all FDI in the country was recorded in these two sectors. In the first five months of 2013, 63% of investment was in these two sectors.
