The growth trend witnessed between 2012 and 2014 in the Latin American logistics, distribution and transportation industry, came to an end in 2015, according to data from greenfield investment monitor fDi Markets. Between 2012 and 2014, 261 FDI projects were recorded in the sector. Mexico was the leading destination country, receiving the highest number of projects (96), followed by Brazil (58) and Colombia (19).

In 2015, fDi Markets recorded a total of 65 projects, which represents a decrease of 40%, compared with the previous year. There was a 27.03% decline in project numbers in the first quarter of the year, compared with the same quarter of 2014, with a similar pattern continuing in the second quarter, which saw a decline of 26%, the third quarter, which witnessed a 73% drop off, and the final quarter, which recorded a 6% decline. 

The most jobs were created in Mexico (5971), followed by the Dominican Republic (1350) and Argentina (1246). This represents a decrease of 35% in job creation in Mexico compared with the previous year, both the Dominican Republic and Argentina recorded increases of 1006.55% and 84.04%, respectively.
