Dell expands Canadian centre:

Texas-based IT supplier Dell plans to almost double the size of its customer contact centre in Ottawa, Canada, in the next few years with the construction of a 13,500m2 facility, due to be completed by September 2007.

$1bn for Intel Vietnam facility:

California-based computer-chip manufacturer Intel Corporation has confirmed that it will invest up to $1bn in its new facility in Vietnam. Construction of the facility will begin

in March 2007 and production is expected to start by 2009, employing up to 4000 people.

Digital River jobs for Ireland:

Minnesota-headquartered Digital River, a specialist in e-commerce outsourcing, has established a European HQ in Shannon, County Clare, to support the operations of its subsidiary, Digital River Ireland, which is expected to create 350 new jobs over the next five years.

Chipworks moves into Osaka:

Ottawa-headquartered Chipworks, a semiconductor and microelectronics reverse engineering specialist, has expanded into Asia-Pacific with a new office in Osaka, Japan, to provide increased levels of technical competitive analysis and intellectual property support in the country’s Kansai region.

Funai plans plant in Poland:

Funai, the world’s eighth largest LCD TV maker, plans to build a new plant in Nowa Sol, western Poland, with a capacity to make 100,000 units a month. Output capacity will be doubled to 200,000 units by June 2008, when the factory is expected to have about 1000 employees.

JasperSoft opens HQ in Dublin:

California-based JasperSoft Corporation, which specialises in open-source business intelligence, has opened a European HQ in Dublin, Ireland. The Dublin office will support business operations for the European region, a market that today includes more than one third of the company’s customers.
