IBM commits to growth in Romania:

IBM Romania, a subsidiary of New York-based IBM Corporation, plans to open new service centre facilities throughout Romania. “We will continue to develop IT service centres and they will dramatically expand the number of staff,” said Mihai Tudor, general manager of IBM Romania. “Timisoara, Iasi and Cluj are areas we are watching most carefully.” The company has yet to decide on the location of the new centres. IBM will be hiring more people to expand the geographical coverage of the support centres in Romania to other central and eastern European countries.

1&1 Internet plans Kansas data centre:

1&1 Internet Inc, the US subsidiary of German-based web-hosting company 1&1 Internet AG, has announced that it will open a new, fully automated data centre in Lenexa, Kansas. The facility will have space for 40,000 servers and will accommodate the company’s fast-growing US web hosting client base.

Infosys seeks bigger European presence:

Infosys Technologies, India’s second largest software service exporter, plans to expand its operations in Europe through acquisitions in Germany, France and other selected European countries. Based in Bangalore, India, the firm partners companies to provide business consulting, systems integration, application development and product engineering services.

Dell adds to Philippines call centres:

Texas-based information technology supplier Dell plans to open a second call centre in the Philippines early in 2007 to provide additional technical support for its US customers. It opened a call centre in the country earlier this year.

Carphone Warehouse plans US expansion:

UK-based Carphone Warehouse Group said it plans to open a number of retail outlets in the US as part of its international expansion. The first location, in New York, will begin trading within weeks, and others will open in major cities in the coming months.
