According to data from fDi Markets, 112 FDI manufacturing projects were recorded in Brazil between January and August 2011. This represents a rise of 65% on the same period of 2010.

The top five investors in the Brazilian manufacturing sector during this period, were different to the top five investors recorded for the first eight months of 2010. German-based companies BASF and Siemens hold the top two positions for 2011 so far.

February recorded the highest investment value in the manufacturing sector in Brazil, with Volkswagen, ArcelorMittal and Doosan all announcing investments in the country. In line with this, February also saw the highest job creation figures with 20,350 jobs created in the month, an increase of 717% on February 2010 data.
