Atlanta has witnessed the most headquarter location projects in the US since 2003, beating out New York and San Francisco.

According to fDiMarkets, the city received 36 projects from 2003 to present, creating 3,637 new jobs. San Francisco had 27 projects to New York's 33.

The average rental rates for office space in the city may explain this trend. Rental cost in Atlanta is $19.97 per square foot, compared to $52.18 per square foot in New York City, $31.26 per square foot in Los Angeles and $26.83 per square foot in Chicago. With costs this low it makes logical sense that companies are deciding to set up shop in Georgia’s capital city.

Recent examples of companies embarking on these projects include Craneware, Enfinity and Italian firm CRIF Lending Solutions.
