The mayor of Kazakhstan's capital city, Astana, has called for more foreign investment into the city’s housing sector, saying it is an area in which it must improve.

In an interview with fDi Magazine, Imangali Tasmagambetov pointed out that the country’s president, Nursultan Nazarbayev, had ordered executive authorities to ensure that the Kazakh population had affordable and quality housing. He is convinced that this could be one of the more lucrative areas for foreign investment in the country, as there is sizable demand for quality housing.
