In Dragomiresti Vale, a village with a population of 4000 near Bucharest, Pepsi is making its first greenfield investment in Romania with the building of a $150m factory, while the village of Jucu will soon be the location of a new Nokia factory.

The announcement of the new Nokia plant has already seen land prices in the area skyrocket and several new real estate projects commence.

Proctor & Gamble broke ground earlier this year in the town of Urlati, which has a population 12,000, on a $100m shampoo and hair care products factory – the company’s largest shampoo plant in the world.

The facility will employ 150 staff and it is expected that phase one of the greenfield project will open in the spring of 2010.
