The Canadian city of Montreal is seeking a further C$50bn ($51.6bn) of investment into its Montreal 2025 project.

Richard Deschamps, member of the city’s executive committee, said that to date that the city has received about C$10 to C$13bn in investment. He had recently returned from the Mipim property conference convinced that there was sizeable interest in the city. In particular he noted that he had some positive meetings with investors from western Europe and Israel.

The Montreal 2025 venture is a large-scale effort to develop the city and includes several multi-billion dollar projects. The largest of these include C$10bn 'technopole' project that aims to create a city of knowledge and innovation. There is also the ambitious C$6.4bn harbourfront project that will reconnect the city to the Saint Lawrence river.
