TechHub, a London-based company that creates community spaces and  networking opportunities for technology start-ups, is opening its first  international space in Riga, Latvia.

The new space will be located in Riga's city centre, in a 4300 square foot open-plan venue. As in the TechHub's first premise, which is located on London’s “Silicon Roundabout” at Old Street, the working space will consist of hot-desks and permanent desks for resident start-ups.

“We are being asked why Riga, not San Francisco or Berlin. The fact is, that there is already a really exciting tech community in Riga and it is growing very quickly. In addition, the collaborative attitude of the Latvian tech scene makes it the perfect choice for us,” says Elizabeth Varley, co-founder of TechHub.

Ms Varley adds that Riga also makes a good choice of location as it is relatively close to London and opens up the chance for collaboration between British and Latvian start-ups.

Since TechHub was founded in London in 2010, the company has grown relatively quickly. Apart from its new operation in Riga, the company is also gearing up to enter other cities around the world. “We will announce another European venture by the end of the year, and we are also looking at cities such as San Francisco, New York and Singapore so our tech community can cater for all kinds of needs,” says Ms Varley.
