fDi magazine’s April/May issue named Chicago, Illinois, as North America’s Major City of the Future; Juarez, Chihuahua, in Mexico as the best large city; Windsor, Ontario, in Canada as the best small city; and Zapata, Texas, as the best micro city.

Winning cities were also identified in individual categories such as best economic potential, development and investment promotion, human resources, infrastructure, business friendliness, cost effectiveness and quality of life.

Attendees at the event included Ontario’s minister of economic development and trade Sandra Pupatello, mayor of Toledo Carty Finkbeiner and mayor of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Brad Woodside.

fDi magazine’s Locations of the Future competition has been running for five years and covers almost every region across the world. The methodology is designed to identify the locations with the most potential to attract high levels of inward investment.
