The survey rated the four countries in a tie for first place in an assessment that ranked 131 countries. Rankings were based on each country’s transparency, stability and economic outlook.

The highest-risk countries were Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, with Yemen, Uzebekistan, Tajikstan and Sudan only slightly above them.

Dun and Bradstreet CEO Christine Christian said that Australia’s economic climate looked set to remain prosperous in 2010: “Australia has been classified as a low-risk environment for business investment, demonstrating the strength of the nation’s economy at a time when the recovery in many other developed nations remains sluggish.”
