Business services was the most popular sector for FDI into Turkey in 2011, a significant change from 2010 when it was the fourth most popular sector in the country. It recorded the largest year-on-year increase in project numbers of any sector in the country, with a 50% increase compared to 2010. In total there were 18 projects recorded in the Turkish business services sector in 2011, with $65.6m of capital invested and 272 jobs created through FDI.

Many of the companies investing in Turkey in 2011 were doing so as part of a global growth strategy. In September, UK-based architectural firm Broadway Malyan established an office in Istanbul. The following month, France-based contractor Vinci also opened an office in the city. Istanbul was the most popular destination for Turkish FDI, with 13 projects recorded in the city in 2011.
