China attracted a record 23 projects in the life science cluster in the first quarter of 2011. This is the largest number of life science projects for any single quarter in the country since 2003, according to fDiMarkets.

Compared with the same quarter in 2010, this is an increase of 228.57% with 16 more projects. Some of this growth can be attributed to a number of projects by dentistry products manufacturer Beyond Health and Dental, which opened six clinics in China.

The majority of the projects in the period, from January to March 2011, were in the sales, marketing and support roles. The quarter saw three large companies, Siemens, Bayer and Medtronic, set up regional headquarters in the country.
