To December 14, 2010, 299 projects into London have been recorded. This was a gain on 286 in 2009, but still slightly off the record 315 projects posted in 2008. While it looks unlikely that London will beat this figure, investments project numbers have trended steadily upwards since 2003 and the 2010 result is a healthy rebound from the previous year.

The rise in FDI projects in 2010 is confirmed by the fact that foreign-owned businesses accounted for 9.1% of new authorizations by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the first half of the year. According to data from IMAS corporate finance advisors, in the first half of 2010 49 foreign-owned businesses were newly authorized by the FSA, compared with 62 for all of 2009.
