US-based technology company IBM has recorded 66 projects in the first 10 months of 2012, a significant increase from 2011 when just 37 were recorded. Despite this uptick in project numbers, however, job creation is down, with 5193 jobs created as a result of FDI in 2012 so far, an 18% decline on the previous year when 6299 jobs were created.

IBM's job creation peaked in 2006, when 12,709 jobs were created as a result of FDI. In 2009, 12,562 new jobs were recorded, but job creation as a result of FDI has been on a downwards trajectory for the company ever since, with a 25% year-on-year decline in 2010, followed by a 34% decline in 2011.
