New York has retained the top spot as the number one destination city for investment projects in the Americas in 2010, according to fDiMarkets.

The city’s numbers were up from 100 projects last year to 135 this year. Sao Paulo was behind New York with 88 investments, up from 76 in 2009. The city came in second place in both 2009 and 2010.

Calgary and Houston were newcomers to the top five in 2010 with each receiving 32 projects. The cities knocked off Mexico City and Los Angeles which were third and fifth place respectively in 2009.
