The plastics sector experienced its strongest results globally in 2010, with 296 investments recorded.

The result comes just a year after the sector received its lowest number of projects recorded by fDiMarkets at 202.

Capital expenditure for the sector reached $3.9bn in 2010, while more than 34,000 jobs were recorded. China and the US had the most FDI in the plastics sector in 2010, with 55 and 50 projects respectively. France and Spain experienced the weakest results, with fewer than 10 projects each.

So far 2011 is shaping up to be a big year for investments in the plastics sector, with 91 projects already recorded in the first quarter of the year.
