Compared with 2009’s figures, the US's number of outbound greenfield FDI projects grew by almost 10%, from 1296 to 1395. Its best month was in June with 521 projects, up from 420 in April 2010, and 437 in June 2009. The data comes from fDi Markets.

The US was far and away the most important source country for FDI, with the next highest number of projects being 319 for the UK – about a quarter of the US total. The UK replaced Germany as the second largest source country for the second quarter of 2010. The top 10 source countries remained mostly the same as they were in 2009, although Canada dropped from 10th to 12th place and Sweden moved into 10th.

The overall number of FDI projects grew slightly year on year from 3950 in the second quarter of 2009 to 4044 in the same period of 2010.
