Kyiv has opened an investment competition to attract funds for the creation of a large new amusement park in the city. The plan is for a 25-hectare site in the Hydropark recreational area on Venetian Island in the Dnieper river which cuts through the capital city.

“Ukraine’s capital is starting an ambitious project that has been talked of for a while. We are aiming to develop a big family leisure park, with the latest rides, a big relaxation zone and food courts located in a beautiful recreation area of the river. It will be Kyiv’s hallmark, comparable to Disneyland Paris, Port Aventura near Barcelona or Universal Studio Park near Los Angeles. The city is seeking an investor who is ready to fund the project and also contribute expertise and interesting ideas,” said Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko.

According to the mayor, the $73.8m project will feature only lightweight structures for ticket offices, restaurants, locker rooms and other premises. The park would be the first of its kind in Kyiv.

The investment documentation will include the detailed description of the investment project. The investment contract is valid for 25 years from the date of its entry into force and the payback period is eight years. The tender process is being managed by the Kyiv Investment Agency.

The deadline for bids is February 17.

“I welcome investors to contribute to Kyiv’s growth. As the city officials we offer and guarantee our assistance and support to make the project successful,” added Mr Klitschko.
