It still has a long way to go before it becomes a telecom hot spot, but OCO Consulting reports that the north African country bagged two notable investments in the past three years: Orascom brought 1100 jobs and Wataniya Telecom 1100. Both were likely attracted by Algeria’s recent efforts to improve its telecom infrastructure and expand services across the country.

Interestingly, Vodafone established a call centre in Japan, one of the largest in the country in fact. More predictable was the decision by British Telecom, the largest investor in this sector by number of jobs created, to open two new call centres in India.
