In 2010 Colombia saw its largest number of FDI projects since 2003, with 89 projects in the country, according to figures by greenfield investment monitor fDi Markets.

The majority of these projects were in the coal, oil and natural gas sector. The country also experienced its largest capital expenditure growth since 2008, with more than $8bn coming in in investments.


Overall in Latin America the coal, oil and natural gas sector experienced a decline in 2010, with only 31 projects in total in the region.
