Asia was the overwhelming lead destination for ICT projects, with Asian countries in the top 10 alone attracting 968 projects out of the sample of 2912, almost a third of the total. Among the top ranking investors, US firms launched 199 projects, 58% of the total, although the largest total investment came from Hong Kong firm Hutchison Whampoa. US firms dominated in the job creation rankings, taking the top four slots. R&D activity accounted for 50% of the key projects launched in the 12 months to June 2004.
