China was the top destination for logistics & distribution FDI projects in OCO Consulting’s sample of 698 projects worldwide in the three years to December 2004. It attracted 13% of the projects and was the location for half of the top 10 projects. By region, Europe dominates the top 10 locations. Among the investors, German firm Deutsche Post led on the number of projects and jobs created and ranked second in amount of investment made. But US firms’ schemes outnumbered those of other countries in the ranking by project number. The largest single project investment also came from a US firm, Houston-based GSL Holdings, which put $1.5bn into the construction of a logistics park in the Chinese city of Kunshan, accounting for more than 8% of total investment in the sample.
