The company is in the process of transitioning its business model from a manufacturing semiconductor company into a fabless chip company.

According to DSO, placing a design team in Dubai is cost effective compared with other places in the world because of corporate tax incentives and exemptions and Dubai’s strict stance on enforcement of intellectual property protection. Covering more than seven million square metres, DSO includes design, development and manufacturing centres. The initiative has attracted a number of start-up companies to locate design teams there.

Streamcore opens US HQ in California:

 

French company Streamcore, a leader in application acceleration for wide-area networks, is opening an office in Sunnyvale, California. The new location furthers the company’s strategic initiative to move its global headquarters to the US from France before the end of 2005.

Ericsson to develop prototypes in Germany:

 

Swedish mobile phone producer Ericsson plans to develop cellphone prototypes in Nuremberg, Germany. By the end of 2005, more than 70 new jobs are expected to be created.

New Jersey-based Artech Information Systems announced the opening of its new development centre in Bangalore, India. The facility will focus on expanding Artech’s business into areas like software solutions and consulting for key blue-chip clients.

Altitude Software opens Mexico office:

 

Portuguese company Altitude Software, an independent contact centre vendor, has announced the establishment of a new office in Mexico City. The office is a result of Altitude’s previous successes in Mexico.
