Gazprom Berlin facility

Russia’s state owned energy company Gazprom has broken ground on a project for an underground facility to store natural gas near Schweinrich, 90 kilometres from Berlin. The facility will be the biggest of its kind in western Europe. It will be storing and distributing Russian gas pumped to Germany through a Russian pipeline under the Baltic Sea. Up to 55 billion cubic metres will be delivered each year.
